Military Bishop Tadeusz Płoski and Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Interior and Administration Adam Rapacki awarded the Benemerenti Award to officers of Government Protection Bureau
This year's beneficiaries of the Benemerenti Award of Military Ordinariate of the Polish Army were Primate Józef Glemp and officers of Government Protection Bureau.
Benemerenti Diplomas ("for giving testimony to truth and justice") are awarded by the Military Ordinariate of the Polish Army to persons and institutions giving testimony to the highest values in the everyday life of a unit or society: truth and justice. The award was created by Military Bishop Sławoj Leszek Głódź in 1995.
This year’s award for officers of Government Protection Bureau was presented by Military Bishop Tadeusz Płoski and Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Interior and Administration Adam Rapacki supervising the operations of the Government Protection Bureau.
As the laudation stresses, officers of the Government Protection Bureau received the award for all their achievements, inter alia: for their commitment in the conditions where their life and health was in danger during the protection of the Polish ambassador to Iraq, for effective protection of the President and other members of the Polish Government, as well as for professional coverage of the Pope’s visits to Poland.
During the ceremony also the family of lieutenant Bartosz Orzechowski who died in service in the attack in Baghdad on 3 October 2007 was honoured.
The award ceremony was held on 5 January 2008 in the Military Cathedral of the Polish Army in Warsaw. A Christmas concert of the Representative Musical Band of the Polish Army and Golec uOrkiestra was also held.
