31.05.2005Meeting of the commanders of Police concerning changes in the Police and the Schengen System
After the meeting of the voivodship’s commanders of Police, the Commander - in- Chief of the Polish Police, Leszek Szreder, stated that he “is determined to clarify all the recent events that took place in the Police”. These events are related to the publications that appeared in the press these days. “Even if these are my last activities as a Police officer. My uniform is clean and that is what I want it to be until the end”- he said.

The Prime Minister dismissed Mr. Andrzej Brachmanski from the post of the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Interior and Administration. The given reason was the necessity to bear political responsibility for chaos and spoiling image of the police.

At the press conference Ryszard Kalisz, Minister of Interior and Administration, stated that after his talk with the Prime Minister he would continue to perform his function. He also added that there will be no changes on the posts taken by General Leszek Szreder, Chief Commandant of the Police, and his deputies.

In the series of meetings held to sum up the activities of the Council of Ministers, the press conference was held today in the Office of the President of the Council of Ministers, attended by Ryszard Kalisz, Minister of Interior and Administration, and top management of the governmental department: Andrzej Brachmanski, Secretary of State, Tadeusz Matusiak, Jerzy Mazurek, Leszek Ciecwierz and Pawel Dakowski, Undersecretaries of State.
