30.07.2008Polish Police gains access to Interpol’s DNA database through the International DNA Gateway portal
On 30 July 2008, the Biology Department of Central Forensic Laboratory of the General Headquarters of Police, located in ul. Iwicka 14 in Warsaw, hosted the ceremony of launching access for Polish Police to one of major Interpol instruments, the DNA database, through the International DNA Gateway.

Witold Drożdż, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Interior and Administration, took part in the Polish-Ukrainian seminar dedicated to the functioning of the local government. This two-day meeting is a part of the project “Transparent Ukraine. Building effective and ethical self-governance in Ukraine”, which is jointly implemented by Polish and Ukrainian partners, the Foundation in Support of Local Democracy (FSLD) and the Ukrainian Pylyp Orlyk Institute for Democracy.

On 21-23 July 2008, Adam Rapacki, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Interior and Administration, visited Croatia. The delegation was also composed of, inter alia, Andrzej Matejuk, Police Commander in Chief, and Jacek Bajger, Deputy Commander in Chief of Border Guards.

11.07.2008Polish tourist coach crash in Novi Sad
On the occasion of an accident of a Polish coach in Novi Sad near Belgrade in Serbia, President of the Council of Ministers Donald Tusk decided on sending a special plane, which will transport family and friends of the injured tourists to the site of the accident. The total cost of the flight, accommodation and transport will be covered by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

The Seventh Meeting of the Polish-Belarusian International Coordination Commission for Cross-Border Cooperation was held on 10-11 July 2008 in Brześć . The operation of the Commission is based on an Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Poland and the Government of the Republic of Belarus concerning the main principles of cross-border cooperation of 24 April 1992.

On 3 July 2008 Deputy Prime Minister Grzegorz Schetyna, Minister of Interior and Administration, sent a letter to Mrs Viviane Reding, Commissioner for Information Society and Media in the European Commission, in which he informed on the fulfilment of recommendations laid down in Directive 2002/22/EC and on the fact that the implementation of the locating service for people calling the European Emergency Number 112 was successfully completed on 30 June 2008.
