04.03.2013Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz nominated for the head of MI
On 25 February 2013, President of the Republic of Poland Bronisław Komorowski handed the nomination for the position of Minister of the Interior to Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz. Jacek Cichocki, who held the position thus far, was appointed the new Head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister and Chief of the Permanent Committee of the Council of Ministers.
Following an offer of transfer to the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, Deputy Minister Michał Deskur resigned from the position of Under-Secretary of State at the MI.
04.03.2013Further works on the draft act on the participation of foreign officers in activities on the territory of the Republic of Poland
The Ministry of the Interior sent a letter to the Sejm special sub-committee in which it drew attention to the need of another revision of the draft act on the participation of foreign officers or employees in joint operations or joint rescue actions on the territory of the Republic of Poland.
04.03.2013Draft ordinance of the Ministry of the Interior on reorganisation of the Border Guard
The deadline for sending comments to the draft ordinance on discontinuation of certain Border Guard units and changing the ordinance on establishing Border Guard units has expired. The submitted comments are now being analysed. According to the new concept, the number and territorial scope of the Border Guard units will be adapted to the tasks implemented both on the external and the internal borders of Poland. The changes provide for, among others, establishing on the southern border of one Border Guard unit for the Śląsk and Małopolska regions, with its office in Racibórz. The Ministry of the Interior does not plan any dismissals as a result of the reorganisation.
