PESEL 2 speeds up

On 16 April 2007, a meeting of the Steering Committee for the PESEL2 Team was held. This was another meeting held in order to discuss the PESEL2 Program Basic Document “Reconstruction and integration of state registers – way of system construction”. The Document focuses on the PESEL2 project and takes also into consideration its broader perspective and role to be fulfilled in modernization of the Polish administration and provided public services.

According to the document assumptions, the Program shall be carried out in two stages.

  • Stage I – realisation of the PESEL2 project, i.e. implementation of new technical, legal and organisational solutions which will significantly contribute to limiting the need FOR the citizen/entrepreneur direct and personal participation in required administrative activities.
  • Stage II – “pl.ID” project – Polish ID card (biometric identity card) TO BE implemented for the years 2008-2013.

The PESEL2 Program Basic Document was prepared by the Department of Registers’ Development of MSWiA with participation of the Department of Civil Affairs and other departments of MSWiA under direct supervision and commitment of the Deputy Secretary of State of MSWiA Piotr Piętak responsible for supervision of public registers entrusted to MSWiA.

The Steering Committee for the PESEL2 Team adopted a resolution recommending the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration to approve the PESEL2 Program Basic Document “Reconstruction and integration of state registers – way of system construction”.

On 17 April 2007, the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration, Janusz Kaczmarek, signed the PESEL2 Program Basic Document.
