US Secretary for Homeland Security Michael Chertoff visits the Ministry of Interior and Administration
On 15 April, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Administration Grzegorz Schetyna and the US Secretary for Homeland Security Michael Chertoff met at the Ministry of Interior and Administration. The meeting was also attended by the Undersecretary of State Adam Rapacki, Ambassador of the United States in Poland HE Victor Ashe and the American delegation.
The main objective of the visit by Michael Chertoff to Poland was to participate in the celebrations of the 65th Anniversary of Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.
Moreover, the following issues were discussed at the meeting: the raising commitment of both countries in counter-terrorism issues in the international context and the issue of including Poland into the Visa Waiver Programme. Poland proposed a dialogue with the US on fighting and counteracting organised crime, including counter-terrorism actions and setting up legal framework for the cooperation which is being developed. |
