Poland was represented also by: Piotr Durbajło – Director of the Department of Teleinformation Infrastructure at the Ministry of Interior and Administration, Wojciech Wiewiórowski (PhD) – advisor for Information Technology Development at the Political Cabinet (Ministry of Interior and Administration), Sławomir Kopeć – Head of the Social Advisors Team for Information Society (Ministry of Interior and Administration), Jan Maciej Czajkowski (PhD) – Head of the Team for Information Society of the Joint Governmental and Local Authority Commission, prof. PhD. Eng. Wojciech Cellary – Head of the Faculty of Information Technology at the Poznań University of Economics et PhD. Eng. Wacław Iszkowski – President of the Polish Chamber of IT and Telecommunications.
Attendants of the conference organised by the Slovenian Presidency of the EU and the European Commission are convinced that information and communication technologies (ICT) are an important mechanism being a condition to social and economic development and modernisation.
The meeting concerned the periodical report about the i2010 Strategy, which started in 2005, defining the framework of action for an integrated European information society.
Among the most important themes brought about at the conference there were actions for further development of new generation networks, fighting digital exclusion, working out Pan-European services for the creation of a single operational market of advanced e-products and e-services, as well as a contribution by end users – consumers in the creation of digital contents.
